Oral Health for Men

There are two terrifying facts that make oral health for men a precarious undertaking.  The first is that men are much more likely to neglect the health of their teeth and gums through regular dental visits and daily oral hygiene habits.  Secondly, men are much more likely to come down with many of the worst oral health conditions such as throat cancer and gum disease.  This is why our Torrance dentist believes that all men should understand some of the risks they may be facing and how they can hedge off these problems before they start.

Outside of genetics and hormones, there are a few features that put men at more risk of these health conditions.  One includes heart and blood pressure medications that men are much more likely to take and can lead to dry mouth and increased bacteria within the mouth.  Another factor to consider is the use of tobacco and its wide range of negative effects.  Finally, sports injuries or trauma due to physical activities are another major concern.  Men are not only more likely to engage in physical activities, they are less likely to wear protective gear while doing so.
